About
My name is Liz Critchley and I have been operating as LCI Proofreading & Editing Services for over three years. I will usually liaise with you directly and edit your project myself, however, during busy periods I may put you in contact with an equally experienced colleague.
Education and training: I studied English language and literature at degree level, where I achieved a high 2:1, and completed an MA in Modern History at the University of Leeds, where I achieved a merit. I also completed a variety of courses through the SfEP and the Publishing Training Centre, specialising in proofreading and editing.
My specialist fields are history, social sciences, business and management, but I am willing to read work from most disciplines.
Experience: A selection of recent clients are shown below, this also illustrates the variety of work undertaken on a regular basis.
- IT Governance Ltd: this role involved on-screen copy-editing, including completely formatting book and index to comply with house style, liaising directly with author to implement corrections, and converting printed version to e-book.
- Apex Publishing: copy-editing of autobiographical novel using Quark XPress 7.3.
- Propaganda: proofreading work undertaken on publicity brochures produced by this creative design agency for a variety of clients.
- Crimson Interactive Pvt Ltd: substantive editing of academic journal articles and presentations written by clients with English as a secondary language.
- British Porphyria Association: writing educational handouts (with the guidance of medical professionals) for sufferers of the condition, their families and as a reference for medical professionals.
Professional membership: I am an associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) which is a professional society for employed and self-employed copy-editors and proofreaders. I abide by the SfEP Code of Practice.
